About Us
Dancers Are Athletes® is more than a slogan
it is a movement. Launched in 2012 by Anthony “AntBoogie” Rue II, the Urban Dance League (UDL) created the movement to change how the world views dancers and to give the culture the recognition it has always deserved. Built from the foundation of street dance, performance, discipline, creativity, and competition, UDL has championed one truth from day one, dancers train, sacrifice, compete, and perform at an elite level just like any athlete.
Urban Dance League loves to serve the community. That includes professional dancers performing at the highest levels, aspiring artists working toward their goals, and the next generation discovering confidence through movement.
The movement also highlights the powerful fitness and wellness benefits of dance. Dance develops strength, endurance, confidence, agility, coordination, flexibility, balance, and mental resilience. It is both artistic expression and athletic training making it one of the most dynamic forms of total body fitness.
Beyond the stage and spotlight, the movement reaches into public schools, youth programs, and community initiatives, using competitive dance games as a sport and positive outlet to motivate, inspire, and develop participants. Through competition, training, mentorship, teamwork, and self-expression, building discipline, leadership, healthy habits, and belief in themselves.
UDL stands at the intersection of culture, sport, fitness, and opportunity creating spaces where dancers can be celebrated, challenged, empowered, and elevated.
