Tamia B. Santana am the Executive Director and co-founder of The Brooklyn Dance Festival. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York I am an active advocate for the arts and families here. As an advocate for dance and the arts, she is the owner of Brooklyn's Jete Dance Center, placing hundreds of students in art departments within NYC high schools and colleges. I am also the Resident Dance Director of the Brooklyn Museum, Project director of RRR Creative, and producer of the televised Bessie’s New York Dance and Performance Awards. Raising family here in Brooklyn also serves on the Board of Directors for One Brooklyn to the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, and READ 718. As a prominent concert dance and performance producer, Executive produced and directed concerts and events at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Urbam Dance League, the Alvin Ailey Theater, Summer Stage, and The Schomburg Center Barclay’s Center as well as for music artists such as Big Daddy Kane in Brooklyn, Thomas Piper, and more.. Previous experience as a dancer has been performing at venues such as Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, Lincoln Center, and across Europe. I have taught dance throughout NYC for over 20 years and believe in bringing the love of movement to all people and making it as accessible as possible for the health and harmony of our community and Borough.
